Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):

Are there changes in walk locations this year?
We are excited to have new sites in Volusia County and Pinellas County. We are also looking forward to our Fall MS Walk campaign with sites to include Tampa and Vero Beach!   See start sites for details.

Can I turn in money even if I don't walk?
Yes!! Call 1-800-FIGHTMS to learn how to earn prizes even without attending! If you cannot come to the MS Walk be a Phantom Walker instead!  Volunteers can raise funds also!

How do I turn in my pledges?
Money can be turned in at any time. Before the event or on the day of the event.  You may even continue to raise money for one month after the Walk and still be eligible for prizes!  Please include your full name with any money mailed to the National MS Society so that we can be sure to credit your total!  Send to:

What is E-Pledging
To make fund-raising even easier, we now offer an on-line system for collecting pledges known as e-pledging. This system is free and easy to use. When you register online, provide an e-mail address and unique user name. You will receive an e-mail confirmation and password to your personal pledge page within a day or two.  Next, write your fund-raising letter/e-mail, include a link directly to your personal pledge page on the National MS Society's Web site and contact everyone in your e-mail address book!  It couldn't be easier for friends and family to sponsor you securely with their credit cards. You will receive an e-mail notice each time you receive a pledge.  The payment is credited to the National MS Society, Mid Florida Chapter automatically.   No more handling cash and checks.  No more postage.  It will be easier than ever to surpass your fund-raising goal!

Do I register differently if I'm on a team?
You must still register individually even if you're on a team. Be sure to indicate the Team Name and Team Captain's Name on your registration form.  Donations will be calculated per individual. Team totals will be calculated automatically for all official members of a team.

How much money do I have to raise?
There is a $25 pledge minimum for the MS Walk.  The average walker raised $125 in 2001. To receive the commemorative t-shirt, you must raise at least $75.

What if it rains on MS Walk day?
The event will take place rain or shine. If weather becomes dangerous, however, the event will be rescheduled.

How long will it take to finish the route?
This depends on what route you choose. An average walker walks about three miles an hour.  Please keep your health situation in mind when choosing your route. A 5K Walk = approx. 3 miles.  A 10K = approx. 6 miles.
